Elysians celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.!
Celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the nation – Mahatma Gandhi, students of St. Elias high School observed Gandhi Jayanti by organizing a special assembly. The special observance held was intended towards paying a heartfelt tribute to the man who gave India the real taste of freedom.
Beginning the special celebrations with insights into his life, the assembly kicked off with a patriotic song. The topic of the day presented had a deep impact on students as it described benefits of nonviolent ways to achieve almost everything in life by Gandhiji.
Various activities were held like poster making, rally on plastic ban and No smoking etc and the students enthusiastically participated in them.
Sharing her thoughts on the occasion, Sr. Philomena Sequeira – Principal, explained the importance of following Gandhian values in life for they lead us towards peace and prosperity of all forms. She also emphasized on benefits of virtues like honesty, simplicity, non-violence etc.
Being the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, students were asked to take part in the celebrations and Elysians did it with full enthusiasm. The walls of the school were decorated with posters on this special occasion. School authorities organised rallies, programmes and seminars on Gandhi Jayanti this year.
