The school Badge has a Golden Chariot wheel on a blue background as the centre piece. The crest bears the school name and the motto lies at the base.
The wheel’s blue background stands for the blueness of the sky; it is the mind’s quest for higher knowledge. Blue is the colour of loyalty to God, country and authority. It is a symbol of aspiration, high hopes and ambition. It is a sign of tranquility, the ability to meet failure without losing hope and success without pride.
The flaming wheel represents the fiery chariot that carried St. Elias, the Patron of the school to Heaven. The flame’s red is the symbol of courage, not only physical courage but also moral strength in upholding the right despite heavy odds.
The Ten spokes of the wheel represent the Ten Commandments of God. The wheel’s gold signifies wisdom and glory. It indicates that pursuit of knowledge is a title to honour.
The Motto: “GOD SHOWS THE WAY” is the maxim chosen by the former Principal, Fr. Blaise Nazareth, who came to St. Elias in 1890, when it was a village primary school and was at its helm till 1976. It was his greatest hope and ambition to extend the school. Contemplating on the Patron, he was inspired that as God showed St. Elias the way to heaven, God would also show us the way to a grand new school. Right enough, today St. Elias School stands proud and high, a full-fledged Secondary School.
Every student, in his pursuit for knowledge and wisdom should bear in mind the motto: “God Shows the Way” which will give him perseverance to overcome obstacles, and the strength to be true to a high ideal.
