Christmas at St. Elias is usually not a one day event. The Christmas celebrations ring in at the very onset of the Advent season. Students are instilled with the true meaning of Christmas which is sharing and caring, love and joy. With this objective in mind a beautiful yet cost friendly Christmas tree is erected in a visible corner besides the Crib. Students are encouraged to decorate the tree or the donation box, placed below the Christmas tree with the items of daily use such as toothpaste, cold cream, soap, etc.
Towards the end of the advent these boxes are gifted to old age homes, orphanages and the needy. Students are thus sensitized with the true spirit of Christmas. This year the Scouts and guides of Std 9th and Std 10 visited Nirmala Niwas enacted a skit on true meaning of Christmas and spent valuable time with the children at the day care. The authorities were given the advent gifts collected at school to be distributed among the needy families.
Back in school, Christmas celebrations were in full swing. The morning started with a meaningful assembly. Prayers were made invoking the Almighty to spread love and peace in the violent, torn world today. Christmas Carols were sung in Hindi, Marathi and English during the assembly. Each class had their celebrations in their respective classrooms, enabling them to celebrate by sharing snacks. A classroom selfie contest called the CHRISTMAS ELFIE’ was announced which added to the fun in the celebration. The students recieved a Christmas gift from the management. The staff had a fellowship meal post celebration. The day ended leaving behind sweet memories in our minds at year end.
