Unlike every year Elysians' celebrated women's day. 8 March is International Women’s Day, giving us an opportunity to celebrate the impressive achievements of the women in our School, and the recognition the School has received. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. Saluting the women in our lives is what we were passionate about on International Women’s Day which was held on March 11.
The day’s program started off by prayer service, followed by dances and skit by students and another skit by parents of pre primary and parade of small girls dressed in different costumes portraying different roles of women also a girl dressed as Rani Laxmi Bai rode on a horse while the other girls parade was on. The chief guest of the day was Sr. Natty Lopes who was very impressed with the programme put up by the students. In her speech she spoke about sex determination of a baby the role of parents, importance of gender equality and also spoke about women empowerment. She also spoke about her survey related to women and life of a girl to women as in her writeup from the book "mulicha arogya ek navi pahatt" published by 'health promotion trust'.
The purpose of organizing a parade on such occasion is not just to observe the day but also to create awareness amongst the students and also with the target of reaching the parents and people in the community at large through the students. The different roles played and the achievements of women in the past, present and future.
